SHD Journal of Practices (Vol. 1, Issue 2: Jan–June 2024)

Journal Title: SHD Journal of Practice, SHD Research Foundation, Delhi

Issue Title: Viksit Bharat @2047 and the Vision of Inclusivity

Extended Submission Deadline: December 15, 2024

Concept Note

The Constitution of India enshrines the principles of equality and inclusivity, explicitly prohibiting discrimination against marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and women. It further incorporates provisions to advance their socio-economic and political upliftment, ensuring their participation in sectors such as education, employment, and governance.

Since independence, successive Indian governments have undertaken targeted policy interventions to combat systemic discrimination and foster an inclusive society. Building on this legacy, the current Indian government has articulated a bold vision for Viksit Bharat @2047, envisioning a developed, equitable, and harmonious nation by the centenary of India’s independence. This vision aspires not only to eliminate all forms of discrimination but also to fortify the foundation of an inclusive society that champions equality and diversity.

Key initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Bharatmala, Sagarmala, and the Smart Cities Mission underline the government’s commitment to creating sustainable urban environments, enhancing infrastructure connectivity, and ensuring affordable housing. Complementary programs like Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana demonstrate efforts to advance healthcare, sanitation, gender equality, financial inclusion, etc. In the continuum to these initiatives, the vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 invites different stakeholders to brainstorm and bring forth visionary policy reflections and practices.

Scope of the Special Issue

The SHD Journal of Practice invites high-quality submissions for its upcoming issue, which aims to critically analyze 75 years of governance and its impact on marginalized communities while exploring innovative policies and strategies to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 particularly on the question of ‘Inclusivity’. In other words, this issue seeks to foster a multidisciplinary dialogue on how to strengthen inclusivity and promote active participation of marginalized communities in building an equitable and prosperous India.
