Feeding strategy to optimize growth and biomass for up-scaling rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum 1792) farming in Himalayan region

Summary: This study examines the effect of different feeding regimes on the growth and feed efficiency of rainbow trout in flow-through systems. It evaluates two feeding schedules (FS-I & FS-II) and three stocking densities (Sd1, Sd2, Sd3). Results indicate that the best growth performance occurred at Sd2 with FS-I. The study also analyzes the economic impact of these feeding regimes, finding FS-I to yield better growth in terms of average daily gain (ADG) and specific growth rate (SGR%). The research highlights that controlling feeding schedules is essential for reducing wastage, improving profitability, and maintaining sustainable trout farming practices.
